Ultraviolet Sterilizer Equipment: Features and Precautions

Ultraviolet sterilization equipment includes ultraviolet sterilization systems and ozone sterilization systems, among others. Among these, ultraviolet light is widely used in the production of purified water. Ultraviolet light is a type of electromagnetic wave that is invisible to the naked eye; it lies beyond the violet end of the visible spectrum, hence the name "ultraviolet."
Ultraviolet Sterilization Equipment Features
1. It can rapidly and effectively kill various microorganisms, such as bacteria and viruses;
2. Through photolysis, it can effectively degrade chlorides in water;
3. Simple operation and easy maintenance;
4. Small footprint and large water treatment capacity;
5. It is pollution-free, highly environmentally friendly, and does not produce any toxic side effects.
6. Low investment cost, low operating expenses, and easy equipment installation;
Precautions for Ultraviolet Disinfection Equipment
1. Ultraviolet rays cannot directly shine on human skin;
2. Ultraviolet light has certain requirements for the temperature and humidity of the working environment: At temperatures above 20℃, the irradiance remains relatively stable; between 5℃ and 20℃, the irradiance increases as the temperature rises. When relative humidity is below 60%, the bactericidal efficacy is stronger. However, as the humidity rises to 70%, the sensitivity of microorganisms to ultraviolet light decreases. When the humidity reaches 90%, the bactericidal power declines by 30% to 40%.
3. When disinfecting water, the water layer thickness should always be less than 2 cm. To achieve effective disinfection, the water must be exposed to a radiation dose of 90,000 µW·s/cm² or higher as it flows through.
4. When dust and oil stains accumulate on the surface of the UV lamp tube and its sleeve, they can obstruct the transmission of ultraviolet light. Therefore, these surfaces should be regularly wiped clean—typically once every two weeks—with alcohol, acetone, or ammonia solution.
5. When the lamp tube is first started, it takes several minutes to heat up and reach a stable operating state, during which the terminal voltage is relatively high. If you immediately turn the lamp back on after shutting it off, it often becomes more difficult to start, and this can easily damage the lamp tube and shorten its service life. Therefore, it’s generally not advisable to frequently switch the lamp on and off.
Ultraviolet sterilization equipment primarily relies on the irradiation intensity emitted by ultraviolet lamps. The closer the object being irradiated is to the sterilization lamp, the better its sterilization effect; conversely, the farther away it is, the less effective the sterilization will be.
