What is secondary water supply disinfection equipment?
2022-09-26
Secondary water disinfection equipment is crucial for ensuring the quality of water in domestic pumping stations. Its primary function is to expose water to ultraviolet light, which damages the DNA of bacteria and viruses present in the water, thereby achieving a disinfection effect.
The main components of the equipment include: the equipment reaction chamber, ultraviolet sterilization lamp tube, quartz sleeve, inlet and outlet ports, sealing ring, fastening nut, and electrical control box. The secondary water disinfection equipment operates on the principle of using chlorine dioxide to disinfect secondary water; it is also known as a chlorine dioxide generator. This equipment is suitable for water supply systems in various buildings and other backup water storage tanks. According to professional assessments by health and epidemic prevention authorities, chlorine dioxide generators can achieve a virus and bacteria elimination rate of over 99%, particularly against E. coli and algal microorganisms in secondary water supplies.
When installing secondary water disinfection equipment, please note the following: The ultraviolet disinfection unit is not a pressure-bearing device and must not be installed at the outlet of the water pump. The equipment’s flange should face upward; you may choose the side installation option instead. The inlet and outlet ports should point downward. Air tends to accumulate inside the pipeline, so the equipment must be connected separately. The power supply should not be linked to other devices. It is recommended that the pipeline remain filled with water at all times for 24 hours. This equipment consists of a microcomputer control system, a dosing system, a reaction system, an automatic control system, a vacuum adsorption system, a heating system, and a safety system. During operation, a sodium chlorate solution and hydrochloric acid are quantitatively delivered to the dosing system under negative pressure conditions. In the reaction system, a mixed gas containing chlorine dioxide is generated through negative-pressure aeration and reaction. After being absorbed by the absorption system, this mixture forms a disinfectant solution of a certain concentration, which is then introduced into the water body for treatment. When using this equipment, we must ensure that the sodium chlorate and hydrochloric acid raw materials used are stored separately. Do not store items such as wood chips, sulfur, or phosphorus together, and never allow them to be squeezed or impacted. Chlorine dioxide has strong oxidizing properties, and the soft plastic tubing parts of the equipment are prone to aging and leakage. Therefore, these components should be regularly inspected and replaced. If the raw materials contain impurities, the flow control valves, raw material pipelines, and water injectors can easily become clogged. It is important to perform regular cleaning and desilting; any sediment or impurities in the raw material tank should be discharged through the drain port. The equipment casing is made of PVC plastic; avoid collisions, compression, and direct sunlight exposure.
Water from municipal tap water plants, wells, and reservoirs is transported via pipelines to storage tanks in residential areas, hotel buildings, guesthouses, military academies, and other facilities, and then supplied again to users—this process is known as secondary water supply. Compared to raw water, secondary water is more susceptible to contamination. Although the original municipal tap water plants, wells, and reservoirs have been disinfected, the disinfected water can become secondarily contaminated during its journey through pipelines to new reservoirs—especially if these new reservoirs lack proper sanitary measures such as leak-proofing. Due to inadequate protection, the water quickly becomes a breeding ground for large numbers of bacteria and microorganisms, necessitating thorough disinfection before it can be safely supplied to users. Therefore, disinfection equipment for secondary water supply is absolutely essential.
