  In the water treatment process, what is currently widely used is: Flow-through ultraviolet sterilizer It boasts excellent bactericidal efficacy and is both safe and convenient to use. The so-called flow-through ultraviolet sterilizer involves installing ultraviolet sterilization equipment in a closed water management system. Since the operating environment is sealed, liquids or other substances can be thoroughly sterilized by ultraviolet light as they flow through the system.

  It is worth noting that enclosed ultraviolet (UV) disinfection equipment is a pressure-bearing device. As the water to be treated flows through the chamber of the UV disinfection unit, it is exposed to ultraviolet radiation emitted by UV lamps, thereby achieving the purpose of sterilization and disinfection. Typically made from 304 or 316 stainless steel, these materials not only offer excellent corrosion resistance but also enhance the reflection of ultraviolet light. An additional benefit is that they increase the intensity of UV radiation. The inner walls of the equipment are generally polished, and the number of UV lamps and quartz sleeves inside the chamber is determined based on the hourly water treatment capacity.

  Another type is the open-type ultraviolet disinfection equipment, which is commonly used in wastewater treatment plants and is suitable for treating medium to large volumes of water. The closed-type ultraviolet disinfection equipment mentioned earlier is more appropriate for treating small to medium volumes of water or for applications requiring pressurized disinfection—such as in certain industrial pure-water systems or domestic water supply systems.

  How to Choose the Right UV Sterilizer? When purchasing a flow-through UV sterilizer, you can consider the following factors:

  1. Water treatment capacity: It is necessary to determine the water treatment capacity, the hourly average flow rate, and the flow variation coefficient. The installation location—whether inside a pipeline, a tank, or equipment—also significantly affects the treatment performance.

  2. Selection of UV lamps: Although the total effective output power is comparable, differences in lamp type and quantity can significantly affect the disinfection efficacy. Non-professionals may not be familiar with lamp wattage, so they should confirm the relevant coefficients with the manufacturer.

  3. What standards must water treatment meet? Specifically, the water quality indicators include: suspended solids concentration, suspended solids particle size, turbidity, UVC transmittance, and bacterial content. These key indicators should also be provided by the equipment supplier.

  4. Other factors to consider include environmental conditions under which the equipment will be used, such as temperature and humidity, as well as any special requirements from the user, such as the preferred system installation method. In short, a good UV sterilizer is simply the one that’s right for you.
