How to Choose a Flow-Through Ultraviolet Sterilizer?
2022-06-08
Flow-through ultraviolet sterilizer It has a wide range of applications and features rapid sterilization, high efficiency, and low operating costs. It is commonly used in various fields, such as domestic water supply, food processing, and electronic devices. It is also a frequently employed disinfection and sterilization device in wastewater treatment.
When an organism is exposed to ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 254 nm, the nucleic acids and proteins on its surface undergo denaturation, leading to the inactivation of the corresponding cells. The external casing of the flow-through UV sterilizer is made of high-grade PVC plastic tubing bonded together, capable of withstanding pressures up to 1.6 MPa and free from toxicity or metal leaching. The UV lamp is housed inside the water pipe, ensuring no radiation leakage occurs. As water flows through the pipe, bacteria, viruses, chlamydia, and algal spores in the water are effectively killed. UV sterilization boasts the advantages of being fast, leaving no residual chemicals, and having relatively low power consumption.
Flow-through UV Sterilizer: The actual sterilization effect of a flow-through UV sterilizer is inversely proportional to the distance between the UV lamp’s irradiation intensity—specifically, the irradiation intensity emitted by the UV disinfection lamp—and the substance being irradiated for sterilization. Ultraviolet light is a unique chemical treatment method, consisting of a stream of discrete particles. Each UV photon with a wavelength of 253.7 nm carries a kinetic energy of 4.9 eV. When the dose of ultraviolet radiation absorbed by bacteria and viruses exceeds 3,600 to 65,000 μW/cm², it exerts a powerful destructive effect on the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA) of these microorganisms, thereby disabling their ability to replicate and effectively achieving sterilization.
When purchasing a flow-through UV sterilizer, users can pay attention to the following important factors:
(1) Water treatment capacity: The design water volume, average flow rate, and coefficient of variation of flow rate all have significant impacts on the treatment performance.
(2) Selection of UV lamps by customers: Even if the total effective output power is comparable, differences in lamp type and quantity can significantly affect the disinfection efficacy.
(3) Water quality indicators: The main indicators include the concentration of raw water, particle size, turbidity, UVC transmittance, and bacterial content.
(4) Other factors: These include environmental factors related to equipment usage (such as temperature and humidity) and other special requirements of the user (such as the system installation method, etc.).
